When it comes to everything Subaru, IAG Performance has your back. Seibon Carbon had the opportunity to catch up IAG, the Subaru gurus, and here’s what they had to say:

1) If you could describe IAG as a food, what would it be and why?
Starting off with the tough questions right out of the gate lol! I’m going with Sushi. It can be sophisticated or wild, and is available in a variety of flavors to meet many needs or desires. Much like taking authentic Japanese food and slathering it with Americanized, mayo-filled, delicious yum-yum sauce, we love to modify Japanese cars and beef them up with upgrades that improve upon an already amazing platform.

2) What does IAG stand for?
IAG stands for Integrity Auto Group. We actually started as a small car-sales business selling used cars (primarily Subaru). When we expanded to open our performance and service center in late-2007, we wanted to keep our name but emphasize that we were migrating towards performance parts and upgrades, and thus IAG Performance was born.

3) How did IAG come about? Why did you decide to open up a shop?
As Subaru gained momentum in the states with the introduction of the USDM WRX’s (and eventually STI, Forester XT, Legacy GT), our car-sales business exploded in the mid-2000’s. As we filled the local streets with turbo Subarus, the demand for service, modifications and upgrades grew, and we decided to open a performance center that specialized in the Subaru platform.

4) Who is IAG? Tell us about your shop and what type of model(s) you specialize in.
We offer service/maintenance, performance upgrades, fabrication, automotive collision & paintwork and a growing line of our own parts, manufactured here at our facility in Westminster, MD.

5) In your opinion, what is the best car movie of all time and why?
Personally speaking, probably Bullitt. I remember watching the chase repeatedly when I was a kid… Steve McQueen was such a bad ass. I used to play with Hot Wheels on my bed (yes, I had the blanket with the printed roads and streets) and try my very hardest to recreate the scene (so my dad tells me).

6) Give us one tip for a successful build.
Think 25% short-term and 75% long-term. Try to visualize your car a year, two, or even three years down the road. How much power will it make? How will it look? Base your parts choices on components that will complement the future goals of the car, and you’ll save a bunch of money over time.
Use that money saved to support local business and shops with brick and mortar locations. They/we invest in the performance automotive community, and if you want us to stay around, don’t take our advice and run to Ebay or Amazon to save a few bucks. The relationship you develop with your local shop WILL work in your favor in the long run. Okay, that may have been more than one tip.

7) What brands/products does IAG carry?
In addition to our own parts we offer a variety of manufactures such as Cobb Tuning, Manley Performance, Invidia, Perrin, Injector Dynamics, Grimmspeed, Blouch Turbo, Garrett, Tial, Motul, ACT, Exedy, KillerB, Gates, NGK, Spearco/Turbonetics, Kelford, Walbro, Mackin, Work Wheels, Seibon (of course) & many more!

8 ) What is your idea of great customer service?
Transparency, trust, and communication are great words to describe the way IAG operates. We enjoy a very low-pressure sales environment here, which I love. Our business was built on the premise of relationship-based sales, where we provide options and allow our clients to choose without pressuring them in to parts or service. This type of sales creates an atmosphere that is so personally rewarding because it allows you to build personal relationships that last for years, and allows me to sleep well at night knowing that I work in a very open and honest environment.

9) If you could make one thing out of carbon fiber, what would it be?
Smart phones. Not just the covers, the actual phones themselves. Get on it Samsung!
